The 2009 Aarons 499 at Talladega was one of the best races I have ever seen. It's been a long time since I was that excited about a race. The ending, which lead to one of the scariest wrecks I have seen since Michael McDowell in Texas, will be talked about for quite some time. Carl Edwards was going for the win, with Dale Earnhardt Jrs protege Brad Keselowski pushing him to the finish line. Brad tried the same move that cost Regan Smith the win last year and Carl tried to block him. When the block happened, Carl went airborne, flipped and smacked into the barrier fence. Considering that Sunday's Road Runner Turbo Indy 300 at Kansas was the worst of the three IndyCar Series events this season in terms of on-track action -- not to mention it overlapped with NASCAR at Talladega which, admittedly, had a hell of a finish -- we shouldn't be surprised at the anemic ratings that Versus' third IndyCar Series telecast received.
That being said, it doesn't hide the fact that a .15 rating (171,000 households) sucks. That's right. All that grousing about the .3 that the IndyCars got for their season opener at St. Petersburg is old news, as is the improvement that Long Beach ...
